*Rachel - as Maria
CELINE:
Good morning, Ms Maria R Ang. We would like to ask you some questions to aid us on the murder of Lois McArthur Lee.
MARIA (Rachel):
[voice breaking with grief]
... I'll try my best to help.
GUO JIE:
You claim that you are the victim's girlfriend. How long have you known each other?
MARIA:
[stammering]
I-I can't exactly remember.
GUO JIE:
[suspiciously]
What do you mean by that?
MARIA:
We have been friends since our primary school days. But I can't remember which year, if that's what you're asking.
JUN DE:
Where were you between 12am to 4am and what were you doing at that time?
MARIA:
I was at home doing my work.
JUN DE:
[voice becomes slightly sharper]
What kind of work?
MARIA:
Paper work for my boss. I do have a job.
CELINE:
And how can you prove you were really at home? Do you have an alibi?
MARIA:[snappish and mad]
Are you suspecting me of killing Lois?! She's my best friend! Why are you asking me this kind of question?
CELINE:
[soothingly]
Calm down, Ms Ang. We need your cooperation if we are ever going to resolve this case.
[stern and sharp]
So I repeat; do you have any evidence that you were at home around the time 12am to 4am?
MARIA:
[softly]
...No, none that I know of.
CELINE:
Noted.
STELLA:Have you noticed anything strange about Ms McArthur? Whether it is her behaviour or her mood?
MARIA:
[hesitantly]
N-no. I don't think so.
STELLA:
[harshly]
You don't think so? Ms Ang, I thought that you and the victim were very close friends? Why is it that you can't seem to give us a clear answer?
MARIA:
[irritably]
Well, that's because all of you keep asking me questions that I can't reply immediately!
GUO JIE:
Do you need to think so hard? If you're her best friend and have a clear conscience, shouldn't you be able to answer all these questions easily?
MARIA:[angrily]
You are accusing me of murder!
GUO JIE:
[calmly]
No we're not. Please cooperate with us, Ms Ang.
JUN DE:
You seem unsure of what is happening with the victim. Why is that so?
MARIA:
I have been really busy with my work lately, so I hadn't had time to spend time with her.
CELINE:Then when was the last time you have seen her... alive?
MARIA:
[sounding rather shocked/sobs a little]
Two days before... she was killed.
CELINE:
[coldly]
How was her mood back there? Did she show any signs of depression or unease?
MARIA:
[silent]
CELINE:
[loudly]
Well? Answer me!
MARIA:
[annoyed]
Could you wait?! I'm trying to remember!
Ah... no. She was perfectly fine. She had the same cheerful and positive attitude as usual.
JUN DE:Did she get into any fights recently? Be it verbally or physically?
MARIA:
No, not at all. Lois' a very peaceful person.
JUN DE:
What and how is her relationship with Ted P Tan?
MARIA:[puzzled tone]
Ted's Lois'?boyfriend. They are really close and never bickered once. Officers, do you actually suspect that Ted was the murderer?
GUO JIE:
[ignoring her question]
And what is her relationship with Luise R Ang?
MARIA:
[sounding even more baffled]
Huh? My brother?
GUO JIE:
Yes.
MARIA:
They are very good friends. Though-
[breaks off suddenly]
CELINE:
[acutely interested]
Yes? Yes? Don't stop, keep on going.
MARIA:
[uncertain]
Um...I'm not sure if I should be saying this...
STELLA:
If you want Lois' death to be brought to justice, you have to cooperate with us, Ms Ang.
MARIA:
[sighs deeply]
Alright...
[reluctantly]
My brother had shown considerable interest in Lois. And... in other words, you could say that he was trying to "steal" her away from Ted.
JUN DE:
Does Ted know about this?
MARIA:
Most likely.
It's pretty obvious, considering the way Luise was behaving.
JUN DE:And how did Ted feel about that, do you know?
MARIA:
[doubtful]
I think Ted was a little jealous and more protective, but I couldn't really tell. He was the same as always, being polite and all.
CELINE:
How about Lois? She should know about this too, right?
MARIA:
Yes... At first she was rather afraid that the boys would fight, but then she realized that she didn't mind the fact that two guys were competing against each other for her.
CELINE:
Did Lois tell you this herself, or what?
MARIA:
She did.
GUO JIE:
One more question, why were you the one who brought the victim to the airport instead of her family members?
MARIA:
[flustered]
No, no, no! Lois and her family went together but then Lois forgot to bring her passport along so she went back to collect it.
GUO JIE:
Okay.
MARIA:I went to fetch her back to the airport but who knew, when I went in...
[voice trails off and Maria cries]
JUN DE:
Thank you, Ms Ang. You have helped us a lot.
STELLA:
Yes, you may leave now... do you want a tissue?
MARIA:
...

Rachel:
So in the end, I will play as Maria. Remember, we must pack emotion into our voices so that we can express the character's feelings. Slam your hands on the table when you think the character is frustrated and please, please, for God's sake: DON'T LAUGH!
Celine:
I will try to produce the feelings and emotions to the speech I need to speak.
Stella:
When I was practicing the script, I could not stop laughing as I found the script rather hilarious in the end. Perhaps it is because of the last sentence: 'Do you need a tissue?"
Jun De:
While we were practicing the script, some other students came to disturb us and we needed to get rid off them before we could finish rehearsing our lines. They were really irresponsible!
Guo Jie:
Because of so much laughter and mistakes, we had to rehearse all over again, sometimes even starting from midway.
When we do the podcast next time, we will have to contain our laughter and find a place where no one will disturb us.
